As American As Public School 1900-1950 Reflection/Summary

The second section of "The Story of American Public Education" discusses what goes on in a students life during the 1900's. This started off with the overpopulation in school which caused a lot of cramped space and difficulty to learn. The story progressed into an expansion of many different organizations for certain position which is provided for the students. What was interesting about reading this section is the idea that during the time students were getting taken cared of at school so that parents didn't need to do it at home.
Another thing that stood out to me as a reader is the IQ test that separated those who aren't smart and ends up working in dangerous jobs to those who are geniuses and potentially becomes the next president. While I do think that an iq test is very good to test students limits, i found it to be very biased in giving the opportunity to a certain race. Reading this section I would honestly agree that many african americans are very smart and not given the opportunity because of the discrimination that occurred in their society in the 1900's.
If our ancestors haven't been discriminating to each other than our future would've changed completely. Which make me think about how MLK changed the school's curriculum.
